Columbus Metropolitan Library officials have changed plans regarding the main downtown branch. Officials now say the building on Grant Avenue will be closed while renovations take place.
Originally a portion of the building would have remained open. But Library spokesman Ben Zenitsky says that idea proved impractical. He says employees as well as some books are being sent to other library branches.
“Books are being sent elsewhere throughout the system we have 21 other branch locations in our system. Some of them are also being stored in closed stacks as well,” Zenitsky says.
The library will close on April 12th for the $30 million project which is expected to be completed by August, 2016.
