Ohio Gov. John Kasich plans to travel to Washington to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint meeting of Congress.

The speech Tuesday comes after House Speaker John Boehner invited Netanyahu without notifying with the Obama administration. The Israeli leader’s visit has exposed deep tensions with the White House.

Kasich spokesman Scott Milburn says the governor also will attend events that Boehner, a fellow Ohio Republican, is holding for Netanyahu before and after the address.

Kasich is considering a potential 2016 presidential bid. Messages seeking details about his trip were left Monday with Milburn and the governor’s press secretary.

Democratic U.S. Reps. Marcia Fudge and Marcy Kaptur of Ohio don’t plan to attend Netanyahu’s address.
