Coleman Speaks Of Appreciation In Final State Of City Address

Last night at the Palace Theatre Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman gave his final State of the City address. Coleman laid out some of his plans for his final ten months in office. They include the first Housing Works project led by Connect Realty that will develop 34 new affordable housing units at Long and Front Street. “People who make $40,000 a year, $50,000 a year will be able to afford the rent downtown and live downtown, part of that exciting place,” Coleman said. Other initiatives the mayor highlighted on were the expansion of Greater Columbus Sister Cities International that now includes Accra, Ghana as Columbus’ 10th sister city, and the relocation of CrossFit supplier Rogue Fitness, which is moving its corporate headquarters to Columbus to the old Timken site in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood. The next mayor should “Go out to the community and actually have a dialogue, have a conversation,” Coleman advised. Before closing, Coleman said "From bottom of my heart, I thank you. I am forever grateful for the opportunity you have given me to serve as your mayor." Coleman announced last year he would not seek a fifth term in office. He's the longest-serving mayor in Columbus history.
