I-75 Reopens After Deadly Collapse

A highway where an overpass collapse during demolition work left one worker dead and a tractor-trailer driver injured has been cleared of concrete and steel and reopened. The removal of tons of debris from Interstate 75 in Cincinnati began Tuesday afternoon and was completed by nighttime, allowing the closed southbound lanes to reopen to traffic. Monday night's overpass collapse killed a construction worker from Augusta, Kentucky, and injured a truck driver from Howell, Michigan. A 911 caller identifying himself as an employee of the construction company at the site says he witnessed the bridge collapse. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports he said workers were taking the bridge down when "it just collapsed." Federal officials say the company had a good safety record.
