The French government is awarding its highest medal to a 96-year-old northern Ohio man who was an artillery gunner during D-Day. Clyde Shull of Upper Sandusky is to be presented with France's Legion of Honor on Monday. He's one of about 2,000 U.S. veterans who have received the award in recent years. A French embassy spokesman says France started handing out more of the medals to American veterans following the 50th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy. Shull's son says his father is excited about the award ceremony but he's disappointed that so many of his fellow soldiers who are now gone won't get the same honor.
