Man Dead After Being Pulled From Far East Side Pond

Police say a man who drove into a pond at a Far East Side apartment complex was pulled from the water by divers but died. The 25-year-old man called 911 around 2 a.m. on Monday and told a dispatcher he had driven into a pond at a complex on the city's far east side. The divers pulled the unresponsive man from the 20-foot-deep pond within about 10 minutes and searched it further but did not find anyone else. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police didn't immediately release his name. It wasn't immediately clear why he drove his vehicle into the water.
