Several hundred people gathered Tuesday night in east Columbus to protest a Missouri grand jurys decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson for shooting and killing Michael Brown in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson. Demonstrators in Franklin Park held signs and chanted slogans denouncing the killing near St. Louis of Michael Brown. Rally organizer Rashida Davison: Not only are we doing this in solidarity with the people in Ferguson but we know that this is happening right here at home and its time for us to make a stand, Davison said. Organizer Timothy Singratsomboune noted the high rate of police shootings of civilians by Columbus police. He says marchers would deliver a letter demanding change. Our letter asks our police department to officially condemn the verdict of no indictment. But we also want them to reform themselves, establish a civilian review board, and change the rate of killings in our city, Singratsomboune said.
