Gale Force Winds Blow Through Central Ohio

Gale force winds blowing through Central Ohio caused disruption on the roads, in homes, and in the skies. Winds gusted as high as 58 miles per hour at Bolton Field in southwest Franklin County. Strong enough to cause spot power outages and cause some traffic lights in the city to go dark. Large trees were toppled in Westerville and Upper Arlington. The wind has also caused flight delays at Port Columbus at the start of the busy Thanksgiving Holiday week. Departures to Philadelphia, Chicago and Charlotte were held back. The National Weather Service says the winds will calm down by this evening. Duke Energy reports that about 20,000 customers were without power in Cincinnati and its neighboring counties. American Electric Power reports about 11,000 were without power around Columbus and Franklin County.
