Health Care Advocates Race To Meet ACA Deadline

Backers of the Affordable Care Act today are ginning up efforts to get more of Central Ohio's uninsured to sign up for health care coverage. And this year, they say, the campaign will have a personal touch. Anna Stacia of Columbus begins her new job today. She's working to link Central Ohio's uninsured with coverage plans.

What we are charged to do is to create experiences and events and opportunities for people to get more information about open enrollment.

This year, consumers have only until December 15 to sign up for coverage if they want health insurance beginning in January. Stacia works for the non-profit group 'Enroll America,' and she says this year appeals to get health insurance will be more personal. "You'll see tabling, you'll see different catered events. you'll see different volunteers at different places. We're not going to use one specific method, but we're really going to try to get out there and get information to the people," says Stacia. Personal appeals will be combined with ads on social media like YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPkxjgFsMfc The health care sign up occurs just as a new Republican majority is poised to takeover congress. House Speaker John Boehner of southwest Ohio told the Associated Press his fellow republicans remain committed to the law's repeal.
