City Launches Snow Plow Information Website

Columbus snow plow crews are on city streets to “dry run” routes to prep for winter. If this were the real deal, their work could be seen on a new city website which shows exactly which streets are plowed. “Warrior Watch” launched Thursday. The city said warriorwatch.columbus.gov will offer up-to-the-minute snow plow info with just a few key strokes. Public Service Department spokesman Rick Tilton said some of the most common questions can be answered. “When was my street plowed? And where in the priority level does my street fall?” There are multiple features on the website including an address search function which provides – to the minute – when a street was last plowed and whether Columbus is responsible for treating it. But will “Warrior Watch” get your street plowed any sooner? Maybe. Tilton said the site shows the city exactly where the trucks have been, and he said that could help in a major storm. “A city this size, you have a very large storm that will be worse in one part of the city than the other, we can then use that to better deploy trucks.” The city’s more than 70 plows are fitted with GPS devices. That information is updates on the website every 15 minutes.
