OK, Why Does Central Ohio Avoid Trick-Or-Treating on Halloween?

It's the annual question - actually two annual questions. 'When is trick-or-treating this year?' And, 'Why don't we just have trick-or-treating on Halloween like the rest of the country?' The answer lies with The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission or MORPC which is involved in long term planning for Central Ohio, setting policy and coming up with creative solutions to long range problems. So why is MORPC setting the schedule for Trick or Treat? Earlier this Fall, the agency sent out its Halloween calendar for this year through 2019. MORPC's Bernice Cage says the Commission was asked by local governments to set a "unified" date for Trick or Treat that lands on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. "Because a lot of their communities hold sport events and other activities on Friday, Saturday and Sunday," she explained. Bernice Cage is a spokeswoman for the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.
