Unemployment Falls Slightly As Ohio Employers Add 6,000 Jobs

Ohio's unemployment rate was down slightly to 5.6 percent for September. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services released last month's unemployment rate figure Friday morning. Labor officials report the most September job gains in goods-producing industries like manufacturing and construction, state government, and trade, transportation and utilities. Sharp job losses came in professional and business services, educational and health services, and leisure and hospitality. August's report showed the state's unemployment rate at 5.7 percent, identical to July's number. Last year's September unemployment rate was 7.4 percent.
