Blue Jackets Sign Top Scorer In Time For Season Opener

Three days before its season opener, the Columbus Blue Jackets today signed Ryan Johansen to a three year contract. Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen says the deal came after he told Johansen it was decision time. "Obviously we wanted him here all along and like I said in the beginning I wish we could have avoided all this and he could've been here from the first day of camp," says Kekalainen.

The 22 year old Johansen will be paid $12,000,000 over three years. He's expected in Columbus tomorrow. Columbus plays Buffalo Thursday night in Buffalo. Its home opener is scheduled Saturday. Listen to Jarmo Kekalainen talk about signing Ryan Johansen to a three year contract here:
