Columbus fire officials say at least ten people were transported to local hospitals after an apartment complex fire on the Northeast side Tuesday morning. Chief Tracy Smith says the fire destroyed the 42-unit building behind Krieger Ford at Tamarack Boulevard and Morse Road. "It started to overtake the roof," Smith says. "Crews went into rescue mode; they tried to fight some of the fire but they went into rescue mode because we had people trapped. They started pulling people out of the building."
Smith says none of the injuries appear life threatening. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
