Central Ohio Home Sale Prices Hit Record High

Central Ohio home sales hit a record high, last month, despite fewer people buying. The average home sale price, in August, is higher than what it was at the height of the housing boom, in 2005. Columbus Realtors reports the average sale price, last month, reached nearly $195,000. That’s a 7.5 percent increase over last August. Year-to-date, the median sale price is $154,500, nearly a 6 percent increase compared to last year’s third quarter report. Columbus Realtors President Milt Lustnauer says the central Ohio housing market continues to make strides, and he expects sale prices to continue to rise. Fewer homes were for sale last month, and as a result sales slipped. August inventory was down 9 percent compared to last August. Sales were down by more than 11 percent during the same time period.
