The former director of the Ohio State University Marching Band, Jon Waters, appealed Thursday to the university’s board of trustees to be reinstated. On Friday, the board, in response, sent a letter to Waters’ attorney declining to do so.

In the letter to attorney David Axelrod, trustee Jeffrey Wadsworth writes that the board “…will not take any action regarding Mr. Waters and will not review the matter at our upcoming meeting.”

Wadsworth’s letter continues, “The Board of Trustees stands firmly behind the Office of University Compliance’s investigation and the University’s decision to terminate Mr. Waters.”

The letter closes by saying, “…we consider the matter closed and we are moving forward as a University.”

Waters was fired July 24 after a two-month university probe concluded he knew about, but failed to stop, a “sexualized” band culture.
