Dayton Area Man Pleads Guilty To Taking Checks For Dead Mom

An Ohio man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge alleging he stole $230,000 in Social Security survivor benefits intended for his mother, who died 33 years ago. 71-year-old Frank Pospisil of Kettering entered his plea Wednesday to theft of government property. Prosecutors alleged he got monthly Social Security checks meant for his mother from August 1981 until March of this year. He'll be sentenced later. The possible punishments range from probation to prison and a $250,000 fine, as well as potential restitution.
