Ohio University Trustees Approve 1.5 Percent Tuition Increase

Ohio University trustees have approved a 1.5 percent tuition increase for undergraduate students for the upcoming school year, costing students $156 more a year. Trustees also approved a 3.5 percent increase in campus housing costs and a 1 percent increase in student meal plans. Friday's board vote at the school's Eastern Campus in St. Clairsville brings yearly tuition to $10,536. Megan Marzec, president of the OU Student Senate, criticized the increase, saying it shows how out of touch trustees are with Ohioans. School administrators said at a board discussion Thursday they could have gone even higher, to a 2 percent tuition cap set by state lawmakers. The school is also adding about $4 million in student financial aid.
