Mayor Coleman Calls Zoo Levy Important To Downtown Columbus

Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman says the Zoo levy voters will decide next week is a key to ongoing change in Columbus that will enable more Columbus children to learn about animals. Coleman says a proposed new downtown facility is important to giving access to city residents. He spoke on All Sides with Ann Fisher this morning and says that a lack of transportation for children and their families has been a problem. “I think folks in the central city ought to have as much chance to go the zoo as anyone else does. And it’s a transportation and access issue. And I love the zoo. They can’t help being out there.â€? Coleman says voters should not be swayed by outsiders like Americans for Prosperity that is behind an ad against the zoo levy. It would raise taxes on property owners to $44 on every $100,000 of value. That’s more than double the current amount.
