Sentences Upheld For Ohio Bridge Bomb Plotters

A federal appeals court has upheld the sentences of four defendants in a failed anti-Wall Street plot to bomb a highway bridge near Cleveland. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati says a judge correctly gave extra time by ruling the crimes had an element of terrorism. The court's Friday ruling also said the judge correctly added time to the sentence of Douglas Wright as the group's leader. The ruling upheld the 11 1/2-year sentence for Wright, of Indianapolis; the 9 year, 9 month-sentence of Brandon Baxter, of suburban Cleveland; the 8-year sentence of Connor Stevens of Berea; and the 6-year sentence of Anthony Hayne, of Cleveland. The government described the suspects as self-proclaimed anarchists who acted out of anger against corporate America and the government.
