Flooding Concerns Prompt $80 Million In Changes To Marathon HQ

Findlay-based Marathon Petroleum Corp. is planning an $80 million expansion of its headquarters. Marathon says it will add two new office buildings to its headquarters complex in Findlay in northwestern Ohio. The company plans to add two new parking garages on the site. Marathon President Gary Heminger says a key part of the plan was making sure progress is being made of solving the repeated flooding that has plagued the city. Marathon's downtown headquarters had $4 million in damage from a flood in 2007. Heminger says he met with federal officials in Washington before the expansion was announced to make the case for a solution to the flooding. Five major floods since 2007 have caused millions of dollars in damage in Findlay.
