Court Ruling Clears Way For Wind Farm

An Ohio Supreme Court ruling has cleared the way for an alternative energy company to move forward with a massive wind farm planned for parts of Richland and Crawford counties. A group of local citizens tried to block the wind farm because they were concerned about noise and decreasing property values. They took their case to the state Siting Board, which ruled in favor of Virginia-based Black Fork Wing Energy. The group then went to the Supreme Court, arguing the Siting Board wouldn’t let them cross-examine some company staff members. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court shot down that argument, saying they had plenty of opportunities to convince the board and only disagree with its decision. The company says the 24,000 acre facility will provide up to 200 megawatts, or about enough electricity to power about 70,000 homes for a year.
