Hamilton County Commissioner May Challenge FitzGerald

The unofficial Democratic candidate for governor Ed FitzGerald may face a primary challenge. The Northeast Media Group says long time Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune says he's considering a run against FitzGerald. FitzGerald's campaign stumbled last week when his running mate State Senator Eric Kearney stepped aside after reports of Kearney's unpaid back taxes and penalties were widely reported. Portune says he will decide to run or not by the end of the year. Of a possible campaign against FitzGerald...Portune says the northeast Ohio candidate needs to be challenged to get his A-game going if he's going to be the nominee. But, he adds, "If I file, I'm in it to win". Incumbent Governor John Kasich, a Republican, could so face a primary challenge. Tea Party leader Ted Stevenot filed paperwork last week to prepare a campaign.
