'A Christmas Story' At 30: Now Part Of The Family

It's been 30 years since the film "A Christmas Story" opened to mixed reviews, but it has emerged as a holiday favorite along with mistletoe and spiked eggnog. Cleveland, where parts of the movie were filmed, is celebrating the 30th anniversary with iconic leg lamp decorations and stage and musical versions of "A Christmas Story." The main character Ralphie was transfixed by the brightly decorated windows and dreamed of getting an air rifle as a Christmas gift, despite warnings that he might shoot his eye out. The plot follows his determined gift-begging, encounters with bullies and his family's daily hopes and dreams. The Cleveland house where Ralphie's film family lived will highlight the anniversary Friday and Saturday with appearances by original cast members and a backyard BB gun range.
