Construction crews are expected to soon break ground on a new outlet mall north of Columbus after voters narrowly approved the development on Tuesday. Burkshire Township trustees already approved zoning for the mall near the intersection of State Routes 36/37 and Interstate 71, but it went to the ballot after opponents gathered enough petition signatures. Developers Simon and Tangier had said they were so committed to the location that they would have considered annexing the land to Sunbury or Columbus if Burkshire Township voters rejected the proposal.
