Plant Closure Adds To Economic Woes Of Ohio River Community

A southeast Ohio aluminum plant is closing its doors. Ormet Corporation is shutting down its plant in Hannibal. The shutdown means 700 layoffs in the small Ohio River community. A press release from the company blames a decision by utility regulators to restructure existing aid instead of granting additional subsidies. So what do the closure and layoffs mean for the local economy? WOSU's Steve Brown spoke with Terry Tamburini, the executive director of the Southeastern Ohio Port Authority.
