39th Confirmed Legionnaire's Case

Health officials confirmed another case of Legionnaire’s Disease Friday. WOSU reports officials expect the number to rise slightly as verification continues. A 39th case of Legionnaire’s Disease has been reported. But the outbreak at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community may be leveling off. Health experts say the numbers could increase marginally as the board of health verifies and reports cases following the incubation period. The death toll remains at five; overall, 32 have been hospitalized, released and sent home. Wesley Ridge is working with a contractor for a long-term solution that would decrease the chances of another outbreak. Showering and drinking restrictions remain in place at one of the retirement community’s buildings. Once CDC-approved shower heads are installed, the showering restrictions will be lifted.
