3 Slain Chardon Students Remembered At Graduation

CHARDON, Ohio (AP) - Gov. John Kasich was among those remembering three 2013 class members killed in a teenage gunman's rampage on the day the slain would have graduated from high school in northeast Ohio. Kasich told Chardon High School students, faculty and families in commencement remarks Saturday that the tragedy has strengthened them. He urged graduates to carry their sorrow and help heal the world. Vases of flowers were displayed at the event for the three shooting victims, Daniel Parmertor, Russell King Jr. and Demetrius Hewlin. Two students wounded in the Feb. 27, 2012, shooting graduated with their class. A third wounded student graduated last year. T.J. Lane is serving a life sentence for the shooting rampage. He was at Chardon waiting for a bus to the alternative school he attended.
