Starting today, veterans can get a new ID card in Franklin County designed to make it easier for them to access benefits and store discounts. The new photo ID cards will include the veterans military discharge information that they provide to the Franklin County Recorderâs Office. Franklin County Recorder Terry Brown explains the ID card will help veterans access different services. âSomeone can identify who the veteran is and they can use that for discounts; so whether theyâre going to a restaurant or a retail establishment to get their discounts. If a family member needs to have proof of service so they can receive proper honors at a funeral," says Brown. Photo ID cards for veterans will be available at Veterans Memorial until 5p.m. Monday and Tuesday from 8a.m. to 7p.m. It only costs $1 for the card. Cards to low income and homeless veterans will be free. After that ID cards can be attained at the Recorderâs office. Stark County started a similar ID program last year.
