Central Ohio Logistics Firms Post "Help Wanted" Signs

A business advocacy group in reports more 'help wanted' signs in Central Ohio. Jeff Zimmerman, Director of the Columbus Region Logistics Council, says current industry openings include warehouse, distribution, and sales positions. "We pay a lot of attention to logistics because we've got over 90,000 people employed in the region, in the eleven county region, focused in that logistics space." Says Zimmerman. Zimmerman says since Columbus is land-locked, planes, trains and trucks are used to move goods and manufactured products in the area....especially trucks, "80 percent of our transportation in Central Ohio happens via truck. Trucks can't go anyplace without drivers and you can appreciate that truck drivers would be in great demand." Zimmerman says. A Logistics Council survey of industry employers predicts additional hiring this year. Some firms surveyed say they'll hire 50 or more additional workers in 2013.
