Ohio Pension Fund Board Won't Seek Travel Funds

Two board members of an Ohio public employees pension fund are withdrawing their controversial efforts to seek reimbursement for a trip to Hawaii to attend a conference. The board members dropped the effort Tuesday that also ended the threat of the Legislature ending all travel reimbursements for pension fund trustees. A state rules committee had voted Monday to end the travel reimbursements. The board of the School Employees Retirement System had defied pressure to cancel the trip for two board members, who said they needed to attend the conference to learn strategies for investing money. It wasn't clear if they will go at their own expense. The retirement system represents more than 125,000 contributing school cooks, bus drivers and custodians.
