Lawmakers Ask Business Leaders For Alternatives To Sales Tax Plan

State lawmakers seem to be at an impasse on Governor John Kasich’s proposal for major cuts in the state income tax and a major broadening of the sales tax to dozens of services. It’s billed as a $1.4 billion tax cut over three years, but two major business groups still don’t like the sales tax part, and Republicans who control the Ohio House of Representatives are also balking at the idea.
