Owner Of SUV Used In Deadly Crash Says It Was Stolen

The owner of an SUV that flipped into a pond with a load of teens in Northeast Ohio says the vehicle had been stolen. Six teens died in the Sunday morning crash in Warren, while two others managed to escape from the wreckage. The State Highway Patrol says the SUV's owner met with police yesterday and filed a theft report, saying it was stolen in the city. State police earlier had said that no one in the group had permission to take the vehicle. A report says the driver of the stolen SUV that crashed didn't have a valid license. The crash report released Tuesday by the State Highway Patrol also says a teen who survived the crash told a state trooper that it felt like the 19-year-old woman behind the wheel was driving 80 mph. Another teen who escaped the Sunday morning crash in Warren told a trooper that the driver, Alexis Cayson, sped up just as the SUV rounded what's known as "Dead Man's Curve." Cayson was among those killed. Investigators also now say that none of the teens were wearing seat belts. The dead were 14 to 19 years old.
