Tobacco Use Could End At Ohio State

Tobacco use could be banned entirely at Ohio State University if a proposal recommending the move is adopted. Ohio State President Gordon Gee informed students, faculty and staff about the proposal in an email today. Gee says the matter of banning tobacco products from the Ohio State campus has been studied by groups representing faculty, staff and students. The majority of the groups, Gee says, believe the university should be tobacco free. Gee said in an email that he plans to make the proposal to the University's board of trustees at its April meeting. He said the Tobacco Free Ohio State policy could be in effect by early August. Gee said that with such a ban in place, Ohio State could become the healthiest campus in the nation.
