Ohio Dems Back Tax Deal, Republicans Split

All five of the Democrats representing Ohio in the U.S. House voted in support of a deal that averts tax increases for the majority of Americans but raises taxes on millionaires. Ohio’s Congressional delegation was split 11 to 7 on the compromise on the plan approved late Tuesday. The plan also got the support of six of the U.S. Representatives from Ohio, including Pat Tiberi, Steve Stivers and John Boehner. "No" votes came from Reps. Steve Chabot, Jean Schmidt, Michael Turner, Jim Jordan, Steve Austria, Jim Renacci, and Bob Gibbs. The GOP-run House voted final approval for the measure late Tuesday by 257-167. That came after the Democratic-led Senate used a pre-dawn 89-8 roll call to assent to the bill, belying the partisan brinkmanship that colored much of the path to the final deal.
