Delaware County Gets Ready For Court Fight Over Fire Levy

The Delaware County Board of Elections has voted to take a legal fight over a fire levy to the Ohio Supreme Court. Board members and trustees in Orange Township have been at odds since the board rejected a township levy request because it came in two minutes late. Last week the township asked the Ohio Supreme Court to intervene, and yesterday the board of elections filed a response showing they intend to continue the court fight. The Orange Township fire chief has already given lay-off notices to nearly two dozen fire fighters, and says if they can't get the levy on the February ballot or find alternate funding, he may have to close the department entirely.
