Increasing Talk About Appointing Some Judges

With this week’s defeat of two incumbent Ohio Supreme Court justices, there’s increasing talk of moving to a system of appointing some judges. Voters rejected the idea of appointing appeals and state Supreme Court judges in 1987, but some skeptics have warmed to the idea, including newly-elected State Representative Mike Curtin. Former Ohio House Speaker Joann Davidson is another long-time skeptic who says the idea of appointed judges should be debated again.
