Brookhaven Classes Canceled After Police-Involved Shooting

Classes at Brookhaven High School have been cancelled today after a Columbus Police officer shot a burglary suspect inside the school early Tuesday morning. Columbus Police Sergeant Rich Weiner says a Brookhaven security guard called police to report a break-in around 3 a.m. Tuesday. Weiner says officers arrived to see 20-year-old Chaunce Dolan in a school hallway. "So as the officers are giving loud commands to (Dolan), another suspect ran around the corner a few feet away from the officers and actually ran into one of the officers," Weiner says. "That's when the officer's gun discharged and the suspect was shot." Ahmad Khatab, 20, was treated and released at the OSU Medical Center. He and Dolan have been charged with breaking and entering.
