Franklin County Money Set Aside For Extended Voting

It may not matter in the long run, but yesterday Franklin County Board of Commissioners announced they had already provided the money to the Board of Elections for extended weeknight and weekend voting hours. That comes despite the order by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted allowing voting only from Monday through Friday, mostly during business hours. The commissioners say restricting voting hours discriminates against Franklin County residents and limits their ability to participate in the election process.  The Board, last year, had added the extra $2.8 million to cover the cost of extended voting as part of their 2012 budget. In 2008, 52,000 people in Franklin County voted early and in- person in the November Election.
