Mitt Romneyâs newly minted running mate returned to his college roots yesterday campaigning at Miami University in Oxford. Rep. Paul Ryan told a crowd of several thousand at his alma mater that the Republican ticket will strengthen the economy and grow jobs. âWe're going to offer you solutions," Ryan said. "Thatâs what the Romney plan for a stronger middle class is all about: growth, opportunity, jobs. "Itâs a plan to create 12 million jobs in the first four years. 452,000 jobs in Ohio alone if we get this economy growing.â? Ryan says Ohioâs coal and natural gas supplies are prime territory for driving job creation. He also looks forward to debating Medicare saying thatâs an issue he believes the Romney/Ryan team will win. Following a recent theme from the Romney camp, Ryan chastised the Obama campaign for a spate of negative ads he says are based on anger and division. From Oxford he travels to the Canton area for a rally Thursday morning.
Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, and a regional Murrow Award. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.
