State Ruling: Some AEP Customers Will Pay More For Energy

Some American Electric Power customers can expect to see single digit rate increases in their power bills. That’s as a result of a ruling today by the state Public Utilities Commission. PUCO spokesman Mathew Schilling says AEP will not be able to raise rates beyond a 12 percent cap. There’s going to be a rate cap on customers’ bills such that no customer should experience more than a 12 percent increase due to today’s ruling. PUCO Chairman Todd Snitchler says the order “…more evenly distributes the rate impacts among customers.â€?
