Future workers at the Hollywood Casino are training for a variety of potential new jobs. This week, those wanting positions as slot technicians began learning new skills. âLetâs say youâve got a path where you both got A/C and direct currentâ¦â? More than 20 future Hollywood casino employees began a week-long training program to learn how to install, troubleshoot, maintain and update what will be more than 3,000 slot machines. 31 year old Joseph Hooker from Millersport says learning electronics is easy for him. He graduated 2 years ago from the Central Ohio Technical College. âItâs second nature for me. I like computers and I like working with all the little gadgets. Iâve always been someone to try to take something apart and put it back together," says Hooker. Hooker and the other trainees who complete the training program will be considered first to be hired. Also hoping for a job 64 year old Bob Reuwer. He has been learning how to manage the table games for blackjack and the roulette wheel. âItâs interesting to see the strategies that some people put forward as far as how to place a winning bet. Itâs interesting to see the psychology behind it," says Reuwer. Hollywood Casino General Manger Ameet Patel says in all 2,000 people will be hired at the casino and he wants most of those employees to come from Central Ohio. So far 30,000 people have applied. The casino is expected to open in the fall.
