Columbus Casino Owners Move Closer To Hotel Development

Columbus City Council is expected to vote next week on Penn National’s proposed zoning changes that would clear the way for the casino company to build a hotel at the site of the Hollywood Casino. Despite a myriad of choices in Downtown, Penn National spokesman, Bob Tenenbaum, said casino patrons could be better served with an onsite hotel. “It simply gives guests, particularly from out of town, another option in terms of what they do when they come to the casino.â€? Tenenbaum said there’s no timeline yet for the project. And there’s no decision about how many rooms it may have. Paperwork filed with the city indicates the maximum height for the hotel would be 375 feet. The casino is slated to open in October. Penn National still has to obtain the license from the Casino Control Commission.
