How Should Student Progress Be Measured?

Ohio is joining 44 other states in adopting new "Common Cores" standards that advocates say will measure a depth of understanding in a few core areas instead of only touching on many subjects. But there's been some criticism that the new system will still "teach for the test." How do you think student progress should be measured?
