At Least 11 Hurt At Ohio Casino Construction Site

Authorities in Cincinnati say at least 11 people have been taken to hospitals with minor injuries from a partial collapse at a casino under construction. Fire officials said 13 were hospitalized, while police said at least 11 were. In a statement issued today, Rock Gaming says Rock Ohio Caesars Construction Team, OSHA, Cincinnati Building inspectors and the Cincinnati Fire Department have launched a full investigation into the cause of the collapse. Speaking on behalf of Rock Gaming, LLC, Steve Rosenthal says none of the workers sustained life-threatening injuries. Rosenthal says the worksite is currently closed and will not reopen until authorities determine it is safe to do so. Casino officials earlier said that a floor collapsed as concrete was being poured. Police spokesman Lt. Maurice Robinson says a 30 foot by 50 foot section of floor went down. Messer Construction Co. of Cincinnati says it is also trying to learn more about what happened. Roads around the casino have been closed by police. A partial collapse of a garage at another Ohio casino under construction occurred last month. The same developers are behind that casino, in Cleveland. No one was injured.
