As of today, itâs officially illegal to sell, use or possess recreational drugs, including synthetic drugs similar to marijuana and others marketed as bath salts. The legislation passed earlier this year adds synthetic marijuana known as K2 or spice, and six synthetic derivatives of a chemical found in bath salts to the list of Schedule 1 controlled substances. The designer drugs had been readily available in convenience stores and gas stations. Doctors blamed them for making some people psychotic and even leading to some deaths.
