Deadline Set for Ohio Congressional Maps

Friday is the deadline for Ohioans to submit their proposals for the state's new congressional map to the committee that will re-draw U.S. House district boundaries. State Rep. Matt Hoffman chairs the Ohio House committee charged with starting the state redistricting process. He says Friday is not a hard deadline, but he wants the committee to have proposals to discuss during meetings next week. Because of population decline, Ohio is losing two congressional seats. There are multiple web sites where members of the public can draw maps and submit them to the committee. The new congressional map needs to be in place 90 days before the filing deadline for candidates. When that will be is uncertain, as a disputed elections overhaul could move Ohio's primary from March to May.
