Alleged West High Assailant Arraigned; Victim Still Hospitalized

A student who was stabbed at a Columbus City school Thursday is in fair condition at the hospital this afternoon. West High School student Tyquan Greene-Tucker remains in the intensive care unit at Columbus Children’s Hospital. 14-year-old Greene-Tucker underwent emergency surgery Thursday morning after another student cut his throat following a school assembly. 14-year-old Marcos Solis was arraigned in Franklin County Juvenile Court on felonious assault charges. Franklin County Prosecutor Rob O’Brien said Solis will remain in jail until his next hearing due to potential gang activity by the teen. O’Brien said more charges could be added. "It may be that as the case goes forward other charges including attempted murder could be considered," O'Brien said. O’Brien said Solis could be bound over to adult court pending additional charges. Following the incident some West High parents called for more security at the school. A district spokesperson said four additional district-employed security officers were sent to the school, but how permanent that will be is unknown. The district could not say how many students were absent from classes following the stabbing.
