Another Troubling Jobs Report

Ohio’s economic recovery has hit another stumbling block with the latest jobs report. "This is not surprising, but it's disappointing none the less. It shows the recovery has slowed," says Ben Johnson from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The July jobless report shows an unemployment rate of 9 percent. That's two-tenths of a percent higher than June and up from 8.6 percent in May. "I wouldn't say that it changes our overall outlook," Johnson says. "We still feel like when we take the long view, the economy in Ohio will continue to improve. But that improvement certainly has slowed this summer." Tourism industries saw the most job losses last month, along with services jobs, education and health care. Manufacturing gained the most jobs.
