Demonstrators Protest House Speaker John Boehner's Visit

Several dozen protesters demonstrated in Dublin Tuesday at the gates of the Muirfield Village Golf Course. The group, which chanted slogans and carried signs, was asking to meet with House Speaker John Boehner. Where's the Speaker? Where's the jobs? Where's the Speaker? Where's the jobs? A group of about fifty protesters, some unemployed, some from Speaker John Boehner's 8th Congressional District, traveled to Dublin Tuesday because they believed the Speaker was inside at a fundraising event. A passing motorist bounced a golf ball out the driver's window. It had a picture of House minority leader Nancy Pelosi on it. Gabe Kramer of the Service Employees International Union was one of the protest event's organizers. "In the recent negotiations in Washington, John Boehner has been fighting hard not to create jobs, but to defend tax breaks for oil corporations, for executives who have their own corporate jets," Kramer says. "We're saying, John Boehner, you just don't get it.'" "I think it's nutty. I'm college educated, I've done software engineering, I have lots of skills, I even did graduate school at MIT and I cannot find work," Johnson says. A call to John Boehner's Washington office seeking comment was not returned by the end of Tuesday's business day.
